This is a picture of me at the beginning of my weight loss journey taken Christmas 2002.  I haven't been on this journey too long, but as we all know well.. everyone has a story.

First off, let me quickly tell you a little bit about me.  I am currently 28 years old.  I turn the big 29 in March.  I am in a 3 1/2 year relationship with my boyfriend Stephen.  We have been living with each other for about 2 1/2 years.  We reside in Phoenix, Arizona together.  I am a 2nd grade teacher, and I LOVE what I do!!  I couldn't be happier with the twists and turns in my career plans that got me to where I am today.

Growing up, I was always a bit on the pudgy side.  At some points in my life I was pudgier than others.  I remember when I was in Jr. High in Texas, I went on a diet with my mother to lose weight.  We were both successful.  I lost about 25 pounds at the time, and fit easily into my size 12 mini skirt.  I was in HEAVEN!  Shortly after that time, I started slowly putting on the weight.  Next thing I knew, I was weighing 185 pounds by the end of 8th grade.  On top of my weight problem, I also suffered from a very severe acne problem.  Even with all of this stacking up against me, I still was a very happy person with myself.

We moved to Arizona when I was in my Sophomore year of High School.  I had inched up to about 210 pounds.  I was very lucky to make friends, and be active in High School.  I never let my weight get the best of me.  After I graduated I started college.  The extra weight just seemed to find a way to my body, and I gained, and gained, and gained!  By the time I had graduated with my bachelor's degree in Marketing, I was weighing about 285 pounds.  For many years I maintained at this weight with little or no fluctuation.

Since meeting the love of my life, Stephen, we have both packed on a few extra pounds.  It's amazing how that happens! *grin*  Sadly enough, even though he towers over me in height, I weigh more than he does.

My sister Wendy is a big reason that I decided to join Weight Watchers.  She had been working the program for several months and had successfully lost weight with it.  I started thinking more and more about wanting to change my life and rid myself of this extra weight.  After I came home from being with my family at Christmas, I decided to get serious!  I logged into the Weight Watchers website, and that's where it all began.  I got on the message boards and started to see people's stats.  This was very promising for me.  Then, I was given a wonderful website that links to other people's websites that documented their successful weight loss.  I was convinced at this point that I would join.

I walked into my first Weight Watchers meeting on January 2, 2003.  I hopped on the scale expecting the absolute worst in weight.  I weighed in at my all time high of 336.8 pounds.  I have been going back weekly since to every meeting.

I am looking forward to the day when I make goal.  However, in the meantime I am taking things one day at a time.. one goal at a time!  My first goal is to get to my first 10% loss, 301 pounds.  Then it will be to get BELOW 300 pounds again.  I'll set new goals again once I meet these.

Keep me in your thoughts, check back with me on this site often, and remember we are worth this!!!!!
